A Jewish TV channel is now available on Long Island on free cable. Cablevision customers can now watch Shalom TV on Long Island, in Westchester, Fairfield County, CT, and in parts of Brooklyn, Queens and New Jersey.
The Fort Lee-based network is available at no charge to an estimated 36 million American households. The non-profit Shalom TV offers a mix of educational and public affairs programming, including Daf Yomi, Hebrew language instruction, a kosher cooking program and children’s programs.
Another viewing option is available on Long Island as well, albeit at a cost of several dollars a month. The Jewish Channel, which is available on Cablevision on demand, offers a variety of original news and entertainment programming as well as Israeli and Jewish-oriented feature films and documentaries from around the world.
