Baldwin - South Nassau Community Hospital is offering parent-child education classes and support groups during the month of July. Mommy & Baby Yoga classes will be held on Monday, July 28 from noon until 1:15 p.m. Maternity Orientation classes will be offered on Thursdays, July 24 and 31 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Prepared Childbirth and Yoga classes will be held in the Parent/Child Education Classroom, located at 2277 Grand Avenue, on the 2nd floor, in Baldwin, and the Maternity classes will be in South Nassau’s Albert Conference Room A. Oceanside - The Oceanside Jewish Center will host Dr. Elaine Solowey and Mr. David Lehrer from Israel’s Arava Institute on Wednesday, July 30 at 8:15 p.m. Dr. Solowey was written up in Hadassah Magazine recently, as she was able to germinate the 2,000 year old seed found in an ancient jug at Masada. That seed is now a 4 foot tall date palm plant. There is no charge for this event, sponsored by Jewish National Fund and the Oceanside Jewish Center, located at 2860 Brower Avenue. Mineola - Congregation Beth Shalom Chabad will host the remaining two classes of a three part series entitled “Heaven on Earth: A Virtual Tour of our Holy Temple” on two Thursdays, July 31, and August 7 from 7:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The classes, given by Rabbi Anchelle Perl, cost $36, which includes a student textbook. Beth Shalom is located at 261 Willis Ave in Mineola.

Lido Beach - The Lido Beach Synagogue will show a documentary, “The Lonely Man of Faith: The Life and Legacy of Rabbi Joseph B. Cedarhurst - Chabad of the Five Towns will host a women’s class with Mrs. Chaya Franklin on August 4 at 8:30 p.m. There is no swimming, music, or meat. Mrs. Franklin will speak about the latent spirituality in Jerusalem and what we’re missing without Mashiach. The suggested donation is $10. Chabad is located at 74 Maple Avenue. Cedarhurst - Congregation Kehillas Yaakov Tzvi will be having a Nine Days/ Holocaust program on August 5 at 8:30 p.m. in the Red Shul, sponsored by David and Penina Klein. Featured speakers are Rabbi Yaakov Feitman and Moshe Katz, a Holocaust survivor. A light buffet dinner will be served. The Red Shul is located at 395 Oakland Ave., off West Broadway in Cedarhurst.
