Jerry Seinfeld visits Israel

Posted

When comedian Jerry Seinfeld came to Israel with his wife and children on Monday, it wasn’t a joke. He was there to express solidarity with the Jewish state in an hour of darkness.

He met with families of Israeli hostages, telling them that “he feels a deep commitment to raising awareness around the world about the issue of the hostages,” according to a statement by the Hostages and Missing Persons Families Forum. He and his family were clearly “deeply affected” by the stories of “the experiences they heard from the family members and the released hostages.”

The statement said the hostage families thank the Seinfeld family “for their moving visit … and their unwavering support.”

Channel 13 reported the meeting lasted two hours longer than scheduled, and Seinfeld was “sensitive” and “caring.”

The channel said the Jewish-American entertainer planned to visit the southern border region and possibly meet with Israeli soldiers.

“We believe in justice, freedom, and equality,” Seinfeld posted on Oct. 11. “We survive and flourish no matter what. I will always stand with Israel and the Jewish people.”
