Republican Bruce Blakeman has been elected Nassau County Executive, besting incumbent Democrat Laura Curran by 2,150 votes, after absentee ballots were counted.
Blakeman had 142,626 votes, compared with Curran’s 140,476 votes, Nassau Democratic Board of Elections Commissioner James Scheuerman said on Tuesday.
Blakeman, who reported receiving a congratulatory call from Curran, said, “I’m very happy. I’m very thankful that the voters of Nassau County have given me their confidence.”
