Achiezer’s Sunday expo eyes key health challenges

Several hundred Long Islanders will attend Achiezer’s annual Jewish Health Care Conference and Expo this Sunday, Sept. 15, from 10 am to 3 pm, in the new TWA Hotel at JFK. Admission is free.

Achiezer, the premier social service organization in the Five Towns and Five Rockaway, says speakers and exhibitors will cover every aspect of health care, including areas of special concern to Orthodox communities. One focus will be on the needs of caregivers and proactive adults seeking to maintain their own health and plan for their retirement years.

This is “the ultimate ‘can’t miss’ event for the Jewish health care consumer, caregiver, and service provider” and will “educate and empower attendees about how to best care for themselves and others,” Achiezer said.

There will be five breakout sessions, covering dementia and alzheimer’s; common pulmonary conditions; end of life issues including both halachic and practical considerations; family balance; and medicaid, asset protection and estate planning. Free hearing screenings will be offered. Parking and a catered gourmet lunch will be available.
