I like to think I’m street-smart. Jerry, my husband, is gullible and naive. Whenever asked anything, Jerry never says no, unless it has something to do with me asking him to dress a certain way, then all bets are off. But when it comes to lending a shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen or providing help, Jerry is a softie.

I realize that for the first time in a long time, I don’t know what I’m going to write about. Nothing funny happened this week; my husband Jerry didn’t do anything out of the ordinary (rare), he didn’t have any funny fasting stories, I wasn’t annoyed at anything, and I had an uneventful, relaxing weekend.

The little white lie, definition: A minor, polite or harmless lie, fib. How many of us have told a little lie? White lies are usually excused because it doesn’t do any great harm, and most are used to avoid hurting someone’s feelings. We’ve all lied, and if you say you never have, you’re probably lying.

Yesterday, for the third time since my mom, a”h, passed away, I was at her apartment with my siblings to continue the clean up and furniture removal. I was overwhelmed at the amount that was left. Let’s just say, my mom didn’t throw much out.

On June 22, my dear mom Ruth Feig, a”h, passed away peacefully in her home. While I am grateful that she lived to be 92-1/2, her passing has left a huge void in my life as well as the lives of my siblings and children.

My grandparents really knew how to cook. It seems to me that everyone born in “the Old Country” (in this case, Transylvania) was born with built-in cooking intuition. Somehow they could create the most scrumptious meals using no fancy equipment, and not even measuring spoons.
