'Shulgging’ kaporos

Posted

Simcha Weingot “shlugs” kaporos for his wife Suri and family Sunday at Aish Kodesh in Woodmere. The chickens — roosters for men, hens for women — are swung overhead then ritually slaughtered and given as tzedaka. Kaporos is an atonement ritual done before Yom Kippur either with a chicken or money while reciting a prayer to symbolically transfer one’s sins to the chicken or the money.
