Seasons and Gourmet Glatt aid Belle Harbor yeshiva

As is often the case in the Five Towns, business competition takes a back seat to a unity of purpose in pursuit of a righteous cause.

In that spirit, leaders of the Seasons and Gourmet Glatt kosher supermarkets joined last week to sponsor a benefit for the Yeshiva Mercaz HaTorah of Belle Harbor, promoting it as a special “Gourmet Seasons Reception” endorsed by Yoeli Steinberg of Gourmet Glatt and Mayer Gold of Seasons.

Rabbi Yaakov Bender, rosh yeshiva of Darchei Torah, noted in his remarks that Merkaz HaTorah is considered part of the Five Towns, a truly local institution.

The food was a smorgasbord of delights, with attendees comparing and contrasting selections from the two supermarkets.

“Yoeli Steinberg and Mayer Gold are very close friends, as shown by this event,” said Ari Weinstein of Seasons, who filled in while Gold was in Lakewood, where both Seasons and Gourmet Glatt have been opening new stores.

The Belle Harbor yeshiva, founded in 1987, is located at 505 B. 129 St.
