Reopening Sandy claims -- forum set for Tuesday

Posted

With policyholders facing a deadline to reopen their Hurricane Sandy flood claims, a public forum is set for next Tuesday (June 16) at which expert attorneys will present options.

The free event, at the Long Beach Hotel from 5 to 9 pm, is open to the public.

Members of Washington-based Weisbrod Matteis & Copley, who have extensive experience in flood insurance litigation as it relates to natural disasters, will lead a discussion on FEMA’s recent reopening of flood insurance claims and explain how best to navigate the process.

They will be joined by an independent appraiser who will discuss the intricacies of engineering reports and the specifics involved in gathering and submitting new reports to FEMA.

Weisbrod Matteis & Copley’s August Matteis was lead counsel in a lawsuit in Mississippi in which a jury found that a FEMA insurer had committed fraud in adjusting Hurriance Katrina claims for FEMA.

This event is intended to serve home and business policyholders who have opted in or are considering opting in to have their Hurricane Sandy flood claims reopened.

The Long Beach Hotel is at 405 E. Broadway in Long Beach. For more information, call 877-797-4432.
