Rambam hockey action

Coming into the playoffs as the number one seeded team and Division Champions, Rambam Mesivta JV Hockey was already having a banner year. As they huddled together in the opening round of the playoffs against the Kushner Cobras, their energy made it clear that they would not be content with just their regular season success.

Freshman Daniel Yizhaky scored the first goal, the dam burst and Rambam emerged victorious with a 5-1 win.

At Rambam, lessons learned in class apply to every aspect of life, including sports, and Coach Avi Herschman is not just expected to teach hockey, he is expected to teach lessons for life.

HANC greets an author

Students at HANC’s Samuel & Elizabeth Bass Golding Elementary School, in West Hempstead, welcomed Doreen Rappaport, award-winning author of 40 children’s fiction and non-fiction books who delighted students with stories about the lives of the famous people she has written about, including President Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and Helen Keller.

Ms. Rappaport explained why she’s so excited about historical facts and finding “new ways to present the lives of well-known heroes” and how that led to her decision to write biographies for children.

The students were excited to meet this dynamic author and they asked her many insightful questions.
