Jewish 5 Towners will line Central Ave at 11 am Friday to honor Mayor Parisi

Dear Residents of the Five Towns,

Cedarhurst's Mayor, Andrew ("Andy") Parise, was a beloved public servant who was there for our community for nearly half a century in local government.  But he was there for our people long before that as a decorated soldier in World War II and a liberator of Buchenwald.

Many members of the community, from rabbis to lay leaders, to school age, young men and women have expressed a desire to show their respect in a way that would be fitting to the Mayor.

His funeral will take place on Friday, February 13th, at 10 AM in his personal house of worship, St. Joachim's Church (located next to Kulanu on Central Avenue and McGlynn Place).

The funeral service will conclude between 11:00 and 11:15 am.  The Village of Cedarhurst has thus arranged to close Central Avenue after the funeral service.  At that time, we all will have the opportunity to follow the hearse from Kulanu, where the procession will take place to the Levi Yitzchok Libray, two institutions of which the Mayor was proud to help establish in the community.

The procession will travel down Central Avenue and stop in front of Village Hall where community members can pay respects as well.  A large turnout would be a true kiddush Hashem.

Please be prompt...

The Village of Cedarhurst has suspended metered parking and alternate side regulations until 1:00 pm.  All other parking regulations (fire hydrants, bus stops, handicapped spaces and no parking zones, will remain in effect).
