The end of shiva for Ehud ben Shlomo Goldwasser a"h and Eldad ben Tzvi Regev a"h was marked with a memorial service July 23 at the Young Israel of North Woodmere. Tehillim and a video paid tribute to the two men. The end of Shloshim will be commemorated with a siyum on Mishnayos.

The siyum is an international program being sponsored by The National Council of Young Israel (NCYI) and the Council of Young Israel Rabbis (CYIR) in Israel.

The Shloshim falls out on the Friday before Shabbat Nachamu, on Aug. 15, but the siyum will be held on Monday, Aug. 18.

“The Worldwide Young Israel Movement believes that a global effort to remember the MIAs through learning Mishnayot is a fitting way to show solidarity with the Goldwasser and Regev families,” said NCYI President Shlomo Mostofsky.

“By responding to the tragedy in a spiritual and meaningful fashion in accordance with Jewish tradition, we can pay proper tribute to these two young men who lost their lives defending the Jewish nation and safeguarding the State of Israel,” he said.

The siyum, which will be broadcast live on the internet from the international NCYI offices, will be led by Rabbi Chaim Wasserman, co-president of CYIR, Rabbi Emeritus of the Young Israel of Passaic-Clifton and Editor of The Rabbi’s Letter.
