Food-bearing Mineola rabbi has just one word for local cops: Thanks!

Posted

Very simply and directly, Chabad of Mineola wanted to say thanks.

And so Rabbi Anchelle Perl proclaimed “Tell a Police Officer ‘Thank You’ Day.” Along with some friends, he visited each of Nassau County’s six police precincts and the Highway Patrol Center to deliver words of appreciation — and a bissel to eat — to the men and women of law-enforcement who risk their lives to protect and serve our communities.

Each police station received a personalized “Thank You” plaque and lunch donated by Brachs Supermarket in Lawrence.

“Having served as a chaplain to police officers for several years and chaplain to the Nassau County Correctional Center, I know first-hand the difficult job these men and women undertake every day and I think we often take them for granted,” said Rabbi Perl.

The delegation of community leaders that accompanied Rabbi Perl included Carleen Calmenson, Sandra Fox, Randie Greenberg, Gary Hudes, Laura May, Jonathon May, Robert and Fran Ross and Zalman Watkin.

At each police station, a proclamation was read to all of the officers, saying, “We salute you, pray for you, honor you, and appreciate the contributions each of you makes every day, in every jurisdiction, as you protect and serve. Thank you, you make the world a better place.”
