El Al pilots celebrate Chanukah in Woodmere

Israeli pilots and flight attendants will join Five Towners this Sunday in an entertaining evening of Chanukah festivities, refreshments and menorah lighting.

El Al staff, who do speaking engagements while on layovers, will present exciting, funny and personal stories about living in Israel and flying with the Jewish state’s airline, from 5 to 7 pm at the Goldstone home, 14 Wyckoff Place in Woodmere.

The event is co-sponsored by the Israeli New York Flight Club, which flew 14 wounded IDF soldiers on a joy ride last Thursday.

The group met at the Young Israel of Woodmere, took off from Republic Airport, and flew over Jones Beach, Coney Island, by the Freedom Tower and up the Hudson River corridor. They were greeted and honored at Republic Airport by a group of students from the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County.

Sunday’s event is free and open to all. For additional information, contact Robert Keleti at 929-500-8004.
