A tasty lesson in writing ‘how to’

As part of their language arts lesson on writing “how to” stories, first graders at HANC’s Samuel & Elizabeth Bass Golding Elementary School, in West Hempstead, brainstormed on “how to” bake cookies. Students were then tasked with writing down all the steps in the baking process.

The students learned the important transitional words: first, then, next and last.

The first grade teachers surprised their students by bringing the lesson to life and actually baking cookies!
