2 incumbents win Cedarhurst trustee vote

Posted

Incumbents Ronald Lanzilotta and Myran Zisman won the first contested Cedarhurst trustee election since 1989 on Tuesday, defeating insurgents Daniel Burg and Yoel Goldfeder.

Village voters cast 942 for Zisman, 1,122 922 ballots for Lanzilotta, 295 for Burg, and 272 for Goldfeder, according to an unofficial tally Tuesday night. [Village officials reported an incorrect number of Lanzilotta on Tuesday night; they provided a revised number Wednesday morning.]

Burg, 40, and Goldfeder, 43, campaigned for change in a village with little turnover among office holders. Lanzilotta, 82, has been a trustee since 2001; Zisman, 77, since 2006. Lanzilotta is also deputy mayor. The village has five trustees.

Lanzilotta said he’s looking forward “to continue working with everyone and doing what I have been doing.”

“I can’t believe the turnout,” he added.

“I love campaigning,” Zisman said. “On to four more years.”
