SKA smiles at HS open house

Posted

Prospective parents and students from many elementary schools were welcomed to the Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls at its Open House last Sunday.

SKA faculty presenters shared their enthusiasm for their subject areas throughout the guided parent and student tours and workshops.

Student volunteers, including SKA Student Ambassadors (pictured with Mrs. Deena Kobre), shared their insights of the excellent limudei kodesh and secular academic programs and the outstanding extra-curricular activities. Pointing out state-of-the-art Smart Boards, new engineering and technology centers, “whirly desks,” and modern biology and chemistry labs, the SKAers were eager to share their school with the future students.

They highlighted the immensely popular Art Academy and electives such as coding, graphic design, sign language and pre-engineering, while also mentioning the chesed program which is an integral part of the school.

Serenaded by chamber music performed by members of SKA’s band under the direction of Production Head Terri Wagner, the visitors were given SKA totes filled with informational brochures about the school.

Following the program, parents and incoming students had the opportunity to chat with administration and faculty members, including our Admissions Coordinator and SKA Social Worker Lisa Fogel, and enjoy a delicious collation in the auditorium.

The Open House positively demonstrated how SKA students “find their passion and live their dream!” SKA looks forward to welcoming the Class of 2021.
