Shulamith names Val, Sal and Keter Shem Tov

Valedictorian Ariella Borah of Hewlett has attended Shulamith since Pre 1-A. She is a member of Math Olympiad, a three time recipient of Shulamith’s Kesher Shem Tov Award, and has won multiple science awards, including 1st place at the Inter-Yeshiva Science Congress in 2016 and 2017. 

Ariella is a highly motivated student who works hard to achieve her goals. This year, Ariella and her co-captain, Anni Laufer, led their undefeated Torah Bowl team to victory in the Torah Bowl Championships, learning the entire book of Devarim with every Rashi.

Ariella has many interests that she pursues outside of school. She enjoys drawing, photography, and plays piano and guitar. She’s been a long time supporter of the JCC food pantry, raising money through her Bat Mitzvah Chessed project, organizing scavenger hunts to locate and donate food, and helping to stock shelves with her friends. 

Ariella loves opportunities for chessed and is constantly looking for ways to grow in areas of Torah and ahavat Yisrael. She can always be counted on the help her classmates with school work or in any way she can, anticipating other people’s needs and feelings and going out of her way to include others in her activities. Ariella is grateful to Shulamith for encouraging her appreciation for doing chessed. She is looking forward to attending SKA, where she will continue to pursue her love of science and math. 

Salutatorian Ayelet Rosman of North Woodmere is a bright, caring and outgoing young woman who has grown spiritually and academically over her years in Shulamith. She davens at the Beis HaKnesses of North Woodmere.

Ayelet attended Shulamith for ten years, and feels especially fortunate to have been given many marvelous opportunities for growth while in Shulamith. In her senior year, Ayelet was voted Editor-in-chief of her graduating class’s yearbook. Ayelet was also a member of the Torah Bowl team for two consecutive winning seasons. She participated as a member of the Math Olympiad team for one year and won first place in the Inter-Yeshiva Science Congress. Ayelet is the proud recipient of her class’s award for Tefila leadership two years in a row.

Ayelet enefitted tremendously from the great education and outstanding role models who have instilled in her the importance of Ahavat Yisrael, Torat Yisrael and Medinat Yisrael. 

Ayelet is blessed to have developed strong friendships with her peers and wishes a sincere Mazal Tov to all of her classmates. She enjoys spending time with them outside of school and looks forward to keeping in touch with her friends for many years to come. Ayelet is excited to be attending Camp Kaylie for her fourth consecutive summer and looks forward to attending SKA this fall. 

Salutatorian Tamar Stern of Woodmere has attended Shulamith for the past ten years and throughout that time, has grown in middot, knowledge, and love of Torah. Tamar feels great hakarat hatov to the menahalot, teachers, and staff of Shulamith for the education, guidance, and caring that they have provided for her and her classmates.

During her eighth grade year, Tamar served as a layout editor of her class yearbook. She was a winner of the Shulamith Science Fair and ranked first place in the Inter-Yeshiva Science Congress competition. Over the past two years, Tamar has been a dedicated member of the Shulamith Torah Bowl team, which won the inter-regional championship both years.

Tamar received the Keter Shem Tov award last year.

Tamar looks forward to spending time with senior citizens each week. She, along with a few classmates, visits the Long Island Living Center on Fridays after school. In addition, Tamar visits a homebound senior weekly. In her free time, Tamar enjoys music and playing piano. She also likes photography, ice skating, and cooking. Perhaps most of all, she loves being with her wonderful friends and classmates, both in and out of school. 

Tamar is looking forward to attending TAG High School this fall, but looks back on the past ten years with many happy memories. Tamar would like to wish all her classmates mazal tov and hatzlacha raba!

Keter Shem Tov Award honoree Sarah Leiderman of Cedarhurst has excelled academically, graduating as an honors student, as well as winning first place in the inter-school science fair competition. 

Sarah is a talented piano player, and participated in a memorable piano recital. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys playing tennis, swimming, and skiing, but, most of all, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends.
