Shulamith girls on Albany mission

Posted

On March 1st, the OU organized a mission to Albany, sending representatives of numerous schools, including Shulamith Middle School, to advocate for private school funding. The purpose of the trip was to gain support and funding for STEM so that we, the students, can be anything we want to be in the future. These funds would help private schools hire teachers for science, technology, engineering, and math.

Not only was this the first time that most of us had made the long journey to Albany to make our voices heard, but it was also a truly incredible experience just to be sitting in the Egg, listening to Governor Cuomo and to many other influential people speak. In addition to hearing from government officials, we also participated in games and discussions and took pictures.

Hopefully, the mission will prove successful and funds will be channeled to all of our local private schools. Going to Albany certainly was worthwhile, and I, for one, am glad to have been part of this important mission.
