PRAYING FOR ISRAEL: White Shul's Rabbi Feiner calls half-day fast on Thursday

Posted

Rabbi Eytan Feiner on Tuesday afternoon sent the following email to the shul's members and mispallelim:

Just a few minutes ago, I got off the phone with the family of an old friend of mine — he is a tank commander in the Tzahal reserves — who, along with 40,000 others, was now called up for military action in Eretz Yisroel. Hashem Yaazor, Hashem Yerachem...on our treasured soldiers and on all Acheinu B'nei Yisroel.

We are, as always, together with them in tefilla and tears, bi'lev vi'nefesh, during this "eis tzara li'Yisroel," and must do our part from a distance to beseech HaKB"H for a full-fledged yeshua bi'karov, a quick end to the missile bombardment and the current crisis in the holiest of all lands, Artzeinu Ha'Kedosha.

On that note, we ask all Gabbaim to ensure that a perek of tehillim (#121) along with "Acheinu" be recited at the close of every minyan in our shul (Shacharis/Mincha) until we hear besuros tovos and a renewed sense of at least quasi-tranquility.

In addition, for this THURSDAY 12 Tamuz, July 10—
We humbly request that everyone tries his or her utmost to join us in a Ta'anis l'chatzi yom — a half day fast (until chatzos, 1 pm) — to add to the myriad zechuyos that communities the world over are presently performing.

We need to do what we can — and need to keep working ever harder — to elicit the abundant siyata dishmaya that our brethren in Eretz Yisroel and the collective Jewish People so desperately need at this precarious time. (For those who will be fasting, please remember to be mi'kabel the ta'anis before shkia on Wednesdsay, preferably at the end of your Mincha Shemoneh Esrei.)

Furthermore, this Thursday (12 Tamuz, July 10), we ask that all Shacharis Minyanim recite three perakim of Tehillim responsively (#s 121, 130, and 142), followed by Acheinu, as well as the "Mi She'beirach" tefilla (to be said right after kri'as haTorah) for the safety and success of our devoted soldiers, chayalei tzahal.

Lastly, I hope IY"H to call in a brief message of chizzuk Thursday morning to our membership, and Rabbi Shay Schachter will devote his weekly divrei Torah at 11:30 am on Thursday to the current matzav in Eretz Yisroel.

Thank you all so very much for your time and cooperation. Let us keep strengthening our solid ties of sincere achdus, and intensify our learning and davening, our performance of tzedaka vi'chesed and ma'asim tovim, and whatever additional merits we can collect to help trigger tremendous Divine assistance every step of the way.

With fervent hopes and prayers and tearful eyes, let us hear only besuros tovos bi'karov mamash,

Rabbi Eytan Feiner
