East Meadow - The Suburban Park Jewish Center will host an open house brunch for prospective members on Sunday, July 20, from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. Meet the dynamic Rabbi, cantor and members of the SPJC family. Baldwin - South Nassau Community Hospital is offering parent-child education classes and support groups during the month of July. Mommy & Baby Yoga classes will be held on Mondays, July 21 and 28 from noon until 1:15 p.m. Maternity Orientation classes will be offered on Thursdays, July 24 and 31 from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Prepared Childbirth and Yoga classes will be held in the Parent/Child Education Classroom, located at 2277 Grand Avenue, on the 2nd floor, in Baldwin, and the Maternity classes will be in South Nassau’s Albert Conference Room A. Plainview - The Plainview-Old Bethpage Library will host a knitting circle on July 22, August 5 and 19, and September 2 and 16, from 10:30 a.m. until noon. Learn to knit or crochet and enjoy pleasant conversation as you work. Bring worsted weight yarn and either #8 needle sizes or a size “J” crochet hook. Woodmere - The Senior Adult Group Experience (SAGE) welcomes all Jewish seniors to programs that provide information, education, fun, stimulation and social opportunities. During July and August, three Wednesdays each month, meetings are scheduled from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and held at the Young Israel of Woodmere, at 859 Peninsula Boulevard. Once each month, July 23 and August 13, the members of SAGE will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Young Israel of Wavecrest and Bayswater, at 2716 Healy Avenue in Far Rockaway. Lunch is served for a nominal fee of $1.50. After lunch, a Jewish film will be shown, followed by a discussion and presentation. Mineola - Congregation Beth Shalom Chabad will host a three week course entitled “Heaven on Earth: A Virtual Tour of our Holy Temple” on three consecutive Thursdays, July 24, 31, and August from 7:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The classes, given by Rabbi Anchelle Perl, cost $36, which includes a student textbook. Cedarhurst - Congregation Kehillas Yaakov Tzvi will be having a Nine Days/ Holocaust program on August 5 at 8:30 p.m. in the Red Shul, sponsored by David and Penina Klein. Featured speakers are Rabbi Yaakov Feitman and Moshe Katz, a Holocaust survivor. A light buffet dinner will be served. Oceanside - The Friedberg JCC is offering several day trips during August. On Wednesday, August 6, there will be a trip to Showboat at the Gateway Playhouse with lunch at Collins and Maine, in addition to a lecture on the coach bus, for a fee of $104. On Wednesday, August 13, there will be a guided tour of the new galleries at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, including Van Gogh, Monet, Matisse, Cezanne, Picasso, Renoir and more. Small groups of 15 per guide. Cost of $71 does not include lunch. On Wednesday, August 20, there will be a trip to Bally’s Casino in Atlantic City with casino cash givebacks, bagel breakfast, movies, raffles and more! Lawrence - The Par Group’s Samuel Levine Memorial Golf Classic will be held on Monday, August 18 at the Seawane and Rockaway Hunting Club in Lawrence, to benefit Sunrise Day Camp, the only day camp in the nation for children with cancer and their siblings. Ongoing events

Hewlett - The Hewlett House offers free ongoing cancer support groups and classes. The yoga and stress reduction group meets on Mondays from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The breast cancer support group for those undergoing treatment meets on Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and on Wednesdays from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The knitting circle meets on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The writer’s roundtable meets on Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Cedarhurst - Every Tuesday, the JCC of the Greater Five Towns offers a social day program called “Remember When” from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Sons of Israel in Woodmere. This program is especially designed for memory enhancement and socialization. The cost includes a full range of therapeutic activities, morning beverage, dessert, and a kosher lunch. Round-trip door to door handicapped accessible transportation is available on a limited basis. Registration is limited to ensure maximum benefits to each participant. Cedarhurst - Every Tuesday, the JCC of the Greater Five Towns hosts a Parkinson’s Support Group. The purpose of this group is to bring together Parkinsonians, spouses and their families in order to help them better understand the nature of the condition, gain confidence and join in community activities.
