MACS preps SKA girls for summer challenges

Posted

MACS, the Modesty Awareness Committee for Students, of the Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls, put together another fabulous program on Monday. The event featured two special guest speakers, a “cool” snack from Rita’s of Oceanside, and an optional choice of two MACS chats requested by the students.

What happens to our spiritual growth during the summer? Do we stagnate, go backwards, or forge ahead?

Students heared from Debbie Stone, associate director of education at NCSY, and Cory Richmond, a talent manager for Liebman Entertainment, who each shared their personal stories and connected their talks to how holding on to your beliefs can get you through the summer months.

MACS was created through a collaborative effort of students and faculty under the guidance of SKA Director of Religious Guidance Elisheva Kaminetsky. It meets in groups to openly discuss the challenges and beauty of tzniut. Over the past years, both optional and school-wide programs on topics of self-respect, privacy, and the power of body language have been presented in an upbeat and positive way.
