HANCsters’ Chanukiya

Posted

As first graders in Morah Katz’s class at HANC’s Samuel & Elizabeth Bass Golding Elementary School, in West Hempstead, were learning about Chanukah, they noted that this year the holiday of comes out during the fall season.

Morah Katz explained that the fall leaves can serve as a reminder of the miracle of Chanukah.

When the leaves fall and the trees look bare everything seems hopeless and empty but in the spring all the leaves come back and bring great promise and a sense of renewal with them; so, too, during the time of the Maccabees, things seemed hopeless and bleak but then Hashem made miracles for the Jewish people and they were able to rekindle the menorah in the Beit HaMikdash.
