HANC High completes Tanach to honor Ezra Schwartz HY”D

Posted

In an emotional and moving assembly, HANC students, faculty and parents joined for a Siyum Tanach in memory of Ezra Schwartz HY”D.

Ezra, a young man from Sharon, Massachusetts, was spending his gap year in yeshiva in Eretz Yisroel when he was gunned down by terrorists.

The HANC Israel Action Committee, led by Zehava Weiss, immediately initiated a drive to fulfill Ezra’s unfinished dream of completing Tanach this year. The siyum and commemoration was held on Dec. 21, the morning of the shloshim of Ezra’s murder. It was livestreamed to the HANC community.

Rabbi Eliyhu Alpert recited a soul-stirring Hadran and Kadish that left many in tears. Students Zehava Weiss and Eric Lenefsky delivered addresses as well. A siyum breakfast was sponsored by numerous parents and patrons.

HANC is proud to have undertaken this accomplishment. May we be zocheh to see the ultimate geulah and no longer know of tragedy and suffering.
