HANC Commemorates 9/11

Posted

Students in 4th -6th grade at HANC’s Samuel & Elizabeth Bass Golding Elementary School, in West Hempstead, participated in a moving assembly to commemorate the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Although the 4th -6th grade students don’t personally remember the terrible events that took place that day, it is important that they learn about and appreciate the many lessons we learned from that day.

The assembly was lead by Principal Rabbi Yaakov Sadigh and Social Studies teacher Mrs. Karen Spitalnik. Rabbi Sadigh explained that we all became soldiers on 9/11 in order to protect our liberty and freedom. And he noted that we need to be grateful to the United States for granting us religious freedom to practice Judaism. The students raised an American flag that Mrs. Spitalnik generously lent to the school; the flag they raised is the very flag that flew over the U.S. Capitol Building on September 11, 2002.

The assembly ended with the singing of our National Anthem as well as recitation of a tefillah for the safety of our country and its people. May our children merit to live in safety and

security.
