HAFTR scribes explore parchment, ink

HAFTR second graders learned about the intricate process of writing a Sefer Torah, during a Tzivos Hashem Sefer Torah Workshop.

The talmidim and talmidot helped sand the parchment and mix the special ink. Each student used a kalmus — a writing utensil — to write his or her name in the ktav assurit Aramaic alphabet. Students were impressed by their ability to write so beautifully.
