HAFTR haircuts aid Israelis with cancer

Posted

Last Thursday afternoon, after a year of letting their hair down, a number of HAFTR Middle School students joined with the Zichron Menachem Hair4Wigs project to donate their long tresses to Israeli children with cancer.

Mrs. Yehudeet Gore, HAFTR’s ChesedU coordinator, inspired local vendors to donate their services, including Cravingz for the cake, Paper Place for the paper goods, Janine and Cal Nathan for donating the balloons, Shani Hair Salon for the hairstylists. Faculty, students and family members of the Middle School donated their hair.

HAFTR student Isabella Baruch wrote:

“As a seventh grade student at HAFTR, we learn daily about doing mitzvot ben adam lechavero. There are so many different ways to go about doing acts kindness.

“This week some students donated their hair to Zichron Menachem, an organization that supplies wigs to children with cancer. It was a truly beautiful mitzvah. While not all students were able to donate their hair, there are still other ways in which both boys and girls can take part in this mitzvah. We can collectively start a fund to raise money that would directly go to purchasing wigs for children with cancer.

“The more we give, the more wigs we can buy!”

If you would like to participate in this direct initiative, please send a check or deliver cash to the middle school office for Zichron Menachem (hair4wigs).
