Prime Minister Netanyahu said he was “deeply moved” by a musical performance by disabled children at his annual pre-Pesach reception last week.

Netanyahu shared a video of the performance as his weekly Shabbat greeting on his Facebook page.

“I had the privilege to listen to and be moved by the wonderful children in the Shalva band. The happiness radiating from them penetrated my heart,” he wrote.

The Shalva band members were overjoyed to perform for the prime minister and hundreds of dignitaries and government officials in Tel Aviv. The band is made up of children from Shalva.

Directed by Shai Ben-Shoshan, the Shalva Band provides an opportunity for children to express themselves through music. Each child is paired with an instrument meets their developmental capacity. Children in the band vote on which songs they would like to perform.

The Shalva band prides itself on shattering misconceptions about the special needs population, proving how talented and capable they are.

Shalva Co-Director Avi Samuels said, “This was a great honor for the Shalva Band and a wonderful opportunity for the audience to experience firsthand the musical talent of the band, as well as the magic of inclusion.”
