At HALB and Rambam, votes count

Posted

Lower School children at the Hebrew Academy of Long Beach voted for the most important presidential quality (being honest) and top priority (our country’s safety).

Additionally, students voted (right photo) as to where HALB should line up in the morning (the yard won over the gym). The children understood that every vote matters and counts so if the students voted the yard, the yard it will be (weather permitting).

At Rambam Mesivta, Saul Marcus and Heshy Walfish (left photos) filled in for Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in a “Great Presidential Debate.”

Marcus, playing Clinton, was adamant that her record of over 30 years’ experience speaks for itself, while Walfish, as Trump, was quick to note that a return to conservative values was of the utmost import.

The two “candidates” fielded questions on such issues as the erconomy, Obamacare, gun control/Second Amendment, Israel, Iran, the future of the Supreme Court, homeland security, terrorism, and the Syrian refugees.

On the issue of guns, Marcus said common sense gun control was necessary. Walfish returned by saying that “criminals, by definition, will break the law only law-abiding citizens will follow it” and then they, the law-abiding citizens will be without guns while the criminals will still have them.

It was a respectful debate, some might even say more respectful than the actual presidential debates, as well as informative.
