Women of 'Kosher Troops' at HAFTR

Rabbi Captain Travis and the women of Kosher Troops visited with the middle school of the Hebrew Academy of the Five Towns and Rockaway to describe the organization’s chesed.

Jewish members of the United States military can celebrate holidays and shabbatot and enjoy the familiar tastes of kosher food even when they are deployed as far away as Afghanistan, Iran or Iraq.

Yehudeet Gore, HAFTR’s chesed coordinator, invited the Kosher Troops organization in as a prelude to the school’s commemoration of Memorial Day and Shavuot. HAFTR students will be collecting boxes of Cheez Its to include in the packages sent to the troops.
