Terror hits HAFTR family

Posted

Three years ago, Shirel Sofer was one of the Bat Ami girls who worked in our Lower School. A few weeks ago, terrorists threw a Molotov cocktail into their car; it landed on Shirel’s 3-year-old sister Tahel. Shirel’s mom and one of her other sisters sustained burns on their arms trying to get the flaming bottle off of Tahel.

Tahel sustained burns from head to toe and was in “moderate” condition at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital.

HAFTR’s schools have initiated a “dollar-a-day” campaign to help the Sofer family in this time of great need. In addition, students and families at the high school donated an iPad and a pair of Beats headphones to help Tal through this difficult time.

HAFTR Rabbi Lewis Wienerkur, who traveled to meet graduates learning in Eretz Yisroel, visited Tal and her family in the hospital. Tal was overjoyed to receive the gifts and the family’s spirit was uplifted knowing that they are part of the HAFTR family.
