“Jewish Hall of Fame” art created by middle school students at the Manhattan Day School will be permanently exhibited on the first floor of the Yeshiva University Museum at the Center for Jewish History.

“This is a great honor for our school and our students,” said Rabbi Mordechai Besser, principal.

“We hope that our students’ renditions of Jewish personalities who have made an impact on the Jewish community and its culture will be celebrated for years to come,” he said.

In addition, paintings in a “Women of Gold” exhibit were among the first to be included in the center’s grand opening exhibit last month.

The “Jewish Hall of Fame” exhibit features paintings of men and women worldwide who have made significant contributions to society. The successes and achievements of these well-known people have been greatly valued and recognized by our youth and their interpretations of the celebrities they chose are a testament to the creative spirit of MDS’ students.

Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and friends all attended. Speeches were given by Mrs. Linda Kastner, art teacher, as well as Stern College art majors.

MDS, on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, is a co-ed school from nursury to grade 8.
