For Lipa Schmeltzer, the megastar who will headline Nachum Segal’s “Kosher Half-Time Show” this weekend, there’s a philosophical message in the mid-Super Bowl event.

“I like the word ‘kosher half-time’ because to me kosher and Judaism is always to celebrate, even when it’s imperfection,” Lipa said on Segal’s JM in the AM radio program. “Even when it’s only halftime, even when you feel you reached half a goal you celebrate.”

Segal responded: “I never expected there would be a philosophical reason behind it.”

“We should always celebrate our wins,” said Lipa, whose been brushing up on his football knowlege and coining Yiddish terms for plays and players. He watched the playoffs with his children, he said.

This is the third year Segal will air a frum-listenable alternative to the NFL’s half-time show which, instead of Lipa, wll feature Beyonce.

Lipa promised “no slow songs since it will be a short show,” running 15 or 20 minutes. It will be taped motzei Shabbos at the Teaneck Dog House and aired during half-time on NachumSegal.com and on the Nachum Segal Network app.
