Let’s stick to fighting our real enemies

Posted

Let’s see. Who was the first leader who thought up the idea of genocide of the Jews? Was it Pharaoh in Egypt? Haman in Persia? The Arab leader, the Mufti of Jerusalem? Or was it Hitler?

I am thinking about this, amidst such preposterous accusations regarding Netanyahu’s recent remarks that his opponents are now labeling Netanyahu a “Holocaust denier.”

Seriously? Agree or disagree with Netanyahu. Think what you want. Prefer someone else to democratically lead Israel all you want. Take issue with every governmental policy Netanyahu has ever implemented. But, please, let’s not confuse our real enemies and the real Holocaust deniers out there with imaginary ones. David Irving, he is a Holocaust denier. Mahmoud Abbas, his doctoral thesis was a work of Holocaust denial. These are examples of Holocaust deniers. These are people who distort history, who deny the truth of history, who cynically use Holocaust lies against our people.

Not Netanyahu.

First of all, what a painful, sobering note: There is a fight over who is “credited” with the idea of annihilating the Jewish people. Since both a Western, Christian nation (Germany/Hitler) and an Arab/Muslim nation (Mufti of Jerusalem/Muslim nations in the Middle East) tried to destroy us, we’re ask to chose to whom the historically accurate “credit” goes?

Netanyahu’s opponents are up in arms regarding his remarks linking the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini, and Hitler. The Prime Minister’s words: “The Mufti played a central role in fomenting the Final Solution. Hitler didn’t want to exterminate the Jews at the time [1941], he wanted to expel the Jews … that Jews seek to destroy the Al Aqsa Mosque … this lie is about 100 years old.”

I’m neither an academic not a historian. Yet, the relationship between the Mufti and Hitler, particularly their infamous conversation regarding their common hatred and enemy, the Jews, is well known.
