HANC students at ‘first Jews’ exhibit in NYC

Posted

Students in Laura Eisner’s AP US History Class at HANC High School, along with Librarian Laura Schutzman, enjoyed a trip to the New York Historical Society on Feb. 7, visiting an ehibit on the first American Jews.

Students viewed artifacts dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries, including a kashrut certificate from a rabbi in Philadelphia from the 1700s, and a Torah scroll burned by the British during the Revolutionary War.

This was a complement to the American history curriculum, enabling students to understand the role of Jews in American history as well as the impact of American history on the Jews.
