Posted

After an undefeated regular season of mock trial competitions, the Davis Renov Stahler Yeshiva High School for Boys in Woodmere won in the first round of the Nassau County playoffs and were a tough out in the second round, where they lost to Massapequa High School.

Team members sustained a season of success first through tryouts at the beginning of the school year; an exhibition match and then roles are selected ranging from prosecutors, defense lawyers and witnesses.

Meeting in school as well as at night, the 12 team members are coached by Dr. Janice Oliver and assisted by practicing attorney Elliot Blumenthal.

Eli Perl captains the prosecution squad, Eitan Kaszovitz is assistant captain and Nathan Peyman also argues cases. Prosecution witnesses are Benyamin Bortz, Yehuda Benhamu and Sruli Fruchter.

The Defense lawyers are squad captain Michael Fagin, assistant captain Yoni Gutenmacher and Dovi Schlossberg. Yosef Kaminetsky, Joe Greenberg and Shlomo Schwartz are the defense team witnesses.
