An estimated 1,500 parents, grandparents, alumni and friends of Yeshiva Darchei Torah gathered on the yeshiva’s Far Rockaway campus on Sunday its 44th anniversary dinner.

The event honored the school’s leadership and faculty, as well as eight sets of awardees: Mr. and Mrs. Mordechai Schwartz, guests of honor; Mr. and Mrs. Eli Amsterdam, parents of the year; Mr. ad Mrs. Shlomo Weiss, kesser shem tov award; Mr. and Mrs. Phil Goldfeder, hakoras hatov award; Rabbi and Mrs. Shmuel Witkin, harbotzas Torah award; Rabbi & Mrs. Eliezer Ament, rebbi of the year; and Mr. and Mrs. Shmuel Brudny and Mr. and Mrs. Yosef Wartelsky, alumni leadership awards.

The evening’s program included addresses by Rosh HaYeshiva Rav Yaakov Bender; Rosh Yeshiva Rav Shlomo Avigdor Altusky; Ronald Lowinger, president of the Yeshiva and dinner chairman; and Mordechai Schwartz, guest of honor; as well as poignant videos about the school and the awardees. Co-chairman of the board of directors, Elisha Brecher, was master of ceremonies.

The dinner was the culmination of a months-long effort to raise vital funds for Yeshiva Darchei Torah, and the school reports that this year’s campaign was the its most successful ever.
